>>1671702I actually have some old aluminium flat pedals, they just look so shitty I can’t bear to use them and all the nice looking flats cost like $50+. My frequent commute includes intercity roads of both the nice and pothole variety (where I have to be fast so I’m not murdered by bus and truck drivers) and bumpy dirt paths and I never had a pedal related issue even in the rain.
Sure my foot slips off on occasion or the pedals sort of rolls under my foot, but it only happens i. the saddle since putting weight on the pedal standing up will have the shoe/your foot bend and sink around the pedal anyway.
It’s the worst of both worlds and I never slipped and died, I highly doubt anyone’s going to be slipping off pins unless the pedals are literally enveloped in mud, those things are made for offroad, and these things things aren’t even designed to have shoes on them and they’re fine
