doesn't necessarily mean he fucked up. It often makes sense to ride like that. The flipside is that a cyclist who gets hit and was technically in the right, might still have fucked up, by ignoring the reality of the situation.

Legally the woman is in the wrong.
However, that cyclist is fucking stupid. He KNOWS that he's invisible behind all the cars, still he decides to move on at full speed.

Here in the Netherlands we are taught that a large part of safe driving is to anticipate someone else's mistakes. In that sense, the cyclist is completely wrong. The car-driver drives slow enough to avoid any large accidents. The cyclist clearly doesn't. He expects everyone else to always drive perfectly. Of course he gets an accident.

lycrafag at fault for passing stationary vehicles too fast and not covering the brake levers with his hands. If he was ready to brake he could have avoided the accident, instead he needs to stay on the drops to race trough the public highway

Yes he had, and yes she ignored it. When I leaned to drive the first thing they told us that we should drive in a way that gives us options if someone else fuck up. The cyclist didn't do it, he flew into the intersection because he had green light and expected right of way. He's the victim of his own overconfidence.

Fair points. I don’t expect people to be cognizant of bikers where I live and basically have to be on the defense for their poor driving and lack of attention. So many people on phones and have had a few close calls over the years. Doubly so when riding my motorcycle. Ironically one of the most courteous car passes I’ve had this year while cycling was a gigantic, noisy truck flying Trump flags full of inbred looking teenage boys.

The motorcycle thing is so true too. I used to ride a motorcycle and cyclists have it way, way easier than motorcycles do, despite motorcycles being more dangerous. Those skills I've learned riding a moto though have payed massive dividends in cycling.
