you wouldnt want to lock up and leave your nice and expensive bike somewhere in the street anyways so tip number 1:
>get a cheap used bikeif it looks like ass but is enough for your commute you have a bike that no one wants to steal because they know its not worth shit. maybe some scratched paint, some rust here or there, cut wires from "stolen" head lights etc. and even if it does get stolen, it being so cheap makes it not that big of a deal anyway
but if its the only bike around and the thief doesnt care for its value but only needs a quick vehicle to get somewhere and dump the bike along the way even your mule might be enough. so tip 2 is also very simple but effective
>lock it up somewhere with plenty of other bikes. added with tip 1, having your bike stand next to other, better looking bikes will shift attention away from yours and onto others.and lastly tip 3
>use an absolute overkill lock, something with a big, thick chain. most people use cheap wire locks, even on their good commute bikes.now imagine: a cheap dirty almost broken bike with a fat lock next to a dozen relatively well looking bikes with some cheap dollarstore locks. which bike do you think they will steal?
