>>1677344>oh look it's THIS thread again.OP, speaking as someone who went from non-athlete/non-cyclist, to casual cyclist, to more serious cyclist, to Century-riding cyclist, to training and road racing for the last 12 years, I have to ask:
>Why the ever-loving FUCK do you even want to do this in the first place!?You know why I don't ride 100 miles in a day anymore, and cap it at 50-80 instead? Because it's BORING and TEDIOUS as FUCK, that's why.
Also, for someone like (You), you'll 'train' for it for months, but you'll still take all damn day long to do it when the day comes, you'll be exhausted for days afterwards, and if you happen to take buddies with you, they'll either bugger off halfway through, or fall behind, or even worse, slow you down and make it even more tedious and boring. And you'll PAY to do all this!
>Oh god, why?OP, if you really want to do somethign *remarkable* on a bike, train for road racing. A typical novice racers' road race is no more than 50 miles, you're in a group the whole time (hopefully, at least, unless you're so slow you get dropped, LOL) and if you finish in the top 10 (or better yet, top 5 or top 3) then you have some real bragging rights with your 'just ride'/'unracer' buddies.
If you don't want to do that, then 'just ride' for fun and nevermind silly 'century' rides. They're pointless and stupid.
