When will the stigma towards scooters/skateboards end? I just want to reach the bus stop in 2 minutes instead of 10 and I have to sacrifice my fucking dignity for it
Yeah I could get a bike but they're way more cumbersome, take more energy to ride, and I might get stopped by some bored cop who wants to give me shit for riding on the sidewalk.
Anyone else know this feel?

I think you really overestimate the amount of shits anyone gives about you. I see tons of adults scooting on both electric and regular scooters every day, its 1.5 miles from station to business centres here and many people aren't willing to walk that daily. Other than your imaginary judgement issues, much bigger problem with scooters is their dogshit construction quality, especially since manufacturers try to sell quickfold mechanisms as a gimmick, sacrificing structural integrity for no reason other than slapping 'bruh it folds in 0.0001 seconds!!!!111" on a box. It's not quite the bicycle level of constant maintenance headache, but for such a simple thing its up there, escoots being even worse.

Obviously an extreme example scenario, but I'd rather not run the risk. I've seen it happen to many men committing far tamer social faux pas than I, and I sympathize with them every time.

If you're talking kick scooters I see them occasionally and question their function compared to an e-scooter but whatever. Escooters are more and more common in my city now (NYC) and are a popular pandemic and post-pandemic transportation method. A lot of people use them for the entire commute, not just last mile. These things can have a decent pass on the inclines over our bridges over the rivers, people take them everywhere.

I live in NZ and in both wellington and auckland theres scooters everywhere, they have like parking restrictions/incentives so are not left in the way and theres a reasonable amount of people using them

I have no problems with kick scooters, they're a great exercise, don't take up space, offer a lot of control, and because they require more effect than a bicycle they're usually ridden by athletic people with good coordination. But e-scooters, those are truly the niggers of the sidewalk, large, awkward, fast as fuck, quiet (nobody bothers to ring obviously) and always ridden by either fat fucks or karens. I've seen like a 80 year old looking granny driving a rental yesterday past me and a bunch of small children, how is this shit legal?

I'm not fine with anyone riding self-propelled vehicles on a sidewalk, but especially people who are likely to have poor coordination and reaction. Take that shit to the road and die there. E-scoots should require a license to drive just like motorcycles, end of story.

Ebikes are actually insane. I have a foldup ebike and in the US people will run you down. I've been commuting for like 3 months via bicycle and it's almost a waking nightmare.

and I imagine any other way would very well likely lead to death, a skateboard, a regular roadbike, etc. Road rage is fucking insane, like you can just feel it from other people. Also almost getting run over pretty much all the time. I'm in a no bike city and doing this, it's just fukkin insane.

Those simple small scooters can in no way travel well, or fast, or over anything that's not perfectly smooth.

You'd be better off with those limited time roller shoes, with the wheels that pop in and out the heel. That was some fun times, stupid, and pointless, but fun.

Anyways, i was looking at the electric scooter bikes that go 50 mph, or electric bike that goes 25-28 mph?

My last scooter broke in 2013 and the model I used was discontinued, all I could find were tiny ones kids or those big ones that aren't the same as the Razor types. Even now though, I can see that my right nipple is sunk lower than my left, and upon close inspection, the entire right side of my body is skewed downward slightly. I have no doubt that this is form the scootering. Been to a chiropractor many times since I quit scootering, but still visibly misshapen.
