The energy use of the train and its infrastructure is negligible. The REAL thing that they should focus on is the environmental savings from people using the train over planes/cars.

i don't know much about energy generation, but, on the face of it, i'm impressed. assuming the CAHSR power supply + distribution tenders have 'renewable energy' as a requirement, this is a big customer for power companies to sell power to. thus, hopefully, kickstarting a network effect where renewable/zero-emissions energy becomes cheap and widespread.

so, i think this is a good thing.

It's not remotely surprising. The state is already requiring a large majority of power to be generated by renewable sources by 2030. The train system will only be a drop in the bucket of that.

Moss Landing. By the time this train would even go into operation there will be many, many more such facilities. And you wouldn't even need that much dedicated to the system -- it would be a relative small consumer in the grand scheme of things .

It's purely marketed towards environmentally focused young people. Marketing statements like these from corporations and agencies will always sound cheesy but evidently they must work or we'd stop seeing them lol.
