So is either Virginia or Georgia doing the right thing with rail planning.

Virginia is focusing on regional rail with no super high speeds (300km/h). But Georgia has pic related as an preferred alternative.

Absolutely. This is a retarded design that no one would have settled on except the government. Probably never going to be built anyway, although millions of dollars will be wasted on it over time.

Well I mean preliminary they're going with $8.4 billion, which is a low cost akin to Spain. Less than $20 million/kilometer.If it stays in that ball park, then it would be pretty grift free.

I thought the same at first but the more I thought about it the more I think this is the right move. Clemson is actually teeny tiny, it just seems bigger because of their huge influence in sports, everyone's heard of Clemson. But they're not that big of a college and they have a huge focus on undergrad which means a lot less students, staff, and faculty. 20k people live in Clemson, 125K live in Athens.

Clemson has an enrollment of 25,000 and most of those students will be from the Atlanta and Charlotte metros, not to mention gameday traffic. It's a much, much more important stop than fucking Anderson
