For me, it's a steel road bike with mechanical shifting and rim brakes that can fit 28s.

28s are excessive for most road riding, but having clearance for them is nice. If you need tires any larger you should ride your cyclocross bike.

im just sick of these fuckass "gravel" roads in the country that are just limestone dust. Nothing nicer than a nice tarmac asphault road in the country- it lasts forever. Nothing worse than eating shit into a cloud of limestone dust out here in dry July.

Surely all these gravelbois don't actually enjoy riding on these limestone dust roads are are riding something more challenging and less chokey

For me, it's an alu bike with at least a newer-gen 105 and 25/26 mm tires on 80 psi.
