Most motorcycle crashes are because the rider was drunk or high or doing something unbelievably retarded. If you just look at sober motorcyclists riding a reasonable speed who know how to handle their bike, it isn't much more dangerous than driving. Do they really need to be banned if the drivers typically only hurt themselves? I don't really care about people commiting suicide. If they want to do it then whatever. However, murder is completely unacceptable. That's why I demand that cars are banned. How a vehicle with so little personal risk but such a high murder rate can be allowed to exist is beyond me.

Helmets were compulsory where I grew up, I moved somewhere where they’re not and it still is insane to see people ripping along the freeway without one.

Honestly the shoulder should just be open to motorcycles a la bike lanes. Also filtering is based and safer.

Mandatory insurance is to cover damages you can cause. Bikes can't cause a significant amount of damage except in extreme circumstances, most of the time the worst they can do is dent a bumper, which anyone riding can afford to cover out of pocket. Whereas even a small mistake driving a car can cause a crash that totals another car and puts someone in a hospital

Modern medicine does excellent job at saving life's and it requires horrendous bodily injury to quickly (within minutes of ER response) stop life sustaining functions. When relatively small injury applied to the head kills fast.

Dude, have you ever ridden anything in that segment other than an e-scooter? A 125cc bike can be much faster than that or bicycle. Those things are perfectly capable of reaching well over 100 km/h if you push them. That is more than enough to kill not only yourself but also any unlucky fuck in your path.
Seriously, the difference to a full bike is just that you have to push them a little for a major fuckup. But there is the full potential for fuckups. Within any speed relevant in cities, the difference is minimal.
The last thing anyone wants is people riding those with the traffic skill of the average 12 year old.

In the state I went to school in, you could ride up to 100cc bike with no license or insurance, just a one time registration fee for the bike. Lots of states have similar laws.

Most motorcycle deaths are mostly the rider's fault (speeding, not riding according to conditions, being retarded around other motorists, not wearing adequate gear).
Motorcycles, unlike bicycles, can keep up with traffic and thus go on roads. Adding new infrastructure would be pointless.

I don't understand this meme at all. We get +40°C summers here. Riding without gear in the heat is fucking terrible because you're basically inside a toaster oven. Your skin drys out like fuck and you're literally being roasted. With textiles, you still get proper ventilation, you get shade and you retain a basic level of moisture on your skin. When it's really fucking hot, soak your t shirt with lukewarm water and ride, the wind will cool you right down.

Normal roads are motorcycle infrastructure.
When bikes use normal roads car and truck users will literally go out of their way to "punish" cyclist and most fatal bike accidents are usually the fault of motorist hitting them rather then anything the cyclist did besides exist on the road.
So since roads are de-facto made for motorist and sidewalks for pedestrians, then there needs to be some place made for cyclist and others who used human powered things with wheels.

Besides, last time I checked the vast majority of motorcycle accidents are single vehicle crashes. In other words most of the time it is literally the motorcyclist fault and no one else was involved. Special lanes or whatever wouldn't solve hitting a pole going 70 MPH.

The kind of damage that does to a person isn't prevented by a helmet.

i get that bike riders dont follow a lot of the rules motor vehicles do like stopping when theyre supposed to, but anyone who's ridden a bike (which is basically everyone) can understand why.
motorcycles on the other hand suffer from self inflicted problems. mainly, they drive to fast for the conditions, they pass too close to cagers to even see them coming I about hit one today because I was just minding my own business when suddenly bike within a foot of the side of my twingo.

I agree with you that if you hit a motorcycle from behind, you oughta get fined. I dont agree with giving the benefit to the motorcycle by default.

Bike lane eat up essential space that scooters and motorbike use to filter.
I noticed this when I was in London. Basically all the 2 weeler traffic that would flow away naturally gets bottled up behind cars to make space for a mostly useless bike lane. Im very against bike lane that are built by splitting an already narrow road.
