>>1686627>earbudsThats what I meant
Without second battery, the setup is basically what I have for not-at-home working or reg travel. 4.5-5.5 kg of computer is bare minimum.
>makes work easier>charge adaptors / cables mostly match + optimized for regular outletNeed to work, can do it from anywhere with net / 4G, zero other commitments right now, schedule pretty flexible
Had a van a few years ago and did weeks of camp 'n work in middle of nowhere with 4G but thats in car and easy to carry base camp + 2 weeks of stuff or go on a supply run. Ultralight table / chair is 1.15 kg combined, just a light fragile version of the car camping one, but yeah, I won't be setting up a big camp like with the van.
>>1686634Mostly want to be anywhere warm, bike-able and ~$2k or less per month without being tied down to a lease. Basically skipping next winter + near a beach.
There's not really hostels in the US to go around cheaply, but monthly airbnb in other cities is cheaper than where I am now.
I'm thinking roughly the Adv Cycling Assoc South Tier Route to start.
3-6 weeks each in SD, Phx, El Paso, Hou, NOLA, FL.
airbnb + wework + gyms
Done a handful of 1 week road / dirt / rail trail trips, but just straight through fast and light.
I've also been car free for 3 years so I'm used to a bike being my primary transportation and I don't have anything else to do really.
I wouldn't take any bike that I have now, but I've got $3.5k budgeted for a new bike / racks / needs, I already have panniers and most camping gear I’d need.
Most weight is in the bike itself:
steel touring bike + pedals = up to 15 kg
real fenders = 0.6kg but i'll probably just use the velcro / origami ones as needed
racks + bottle cages + daytime flasher lights = 1.6kg
full panniers/backpack = 4.5+kg
tools/spares/lube/pump = 1.3kg
if I need to get on a plane the cargo bag is another 1.8kg
and another 5kg for daily snacks / 4L h2o / bottles / filtration
total is 25-30kg for touring bike basics alone
