-Baggy options are fine for casual riding or mountain biking where your average speed isn't that high, but flappy clothing slows you down considerably on road rides. Outer shorts made of a tougher material are also preferred for mountain biking because they don't get torn by crashing or getting snagged on plants.
-Bibs have an advantage over shorts of not relying on a waist band to keep the chamois where you want it, with the disadvantage of cost and inconvenience if you need to poo in the middle of a ride. They also tend to retain slightly more heat. But if you have shorts that are a perfect fit then you're not missing out on much by not going to bibs.
