Let's say one gets a pilots loicence.
How much to rent a 172 or equivalent to fly around on the weekends maybe one a month.
Maybe airport to airport 100 miles a way do some activities at said destination before heading back

You can expect to pay around $180/hr for a 2010~ Cessna 172 with G1000 avionics which isn't too bad. You can easily cruise at 120 knots and actually fly instead of just putzing around in a 152 or Piper or some shit. Every few months I rent a plane out of New Bedford and fly my friends to Nantucket and back. Usually works out to around $400 per trip which isn't too bad if you consider the cost of three ferry tickets and shit

GA accidents during training or recreational flight are actually pretty rare afaik. The majority are people who actually use small planes for travel and fly into bad weather or when they're too tired or whatever because they're trying to hold a schedule.
