Tesla was the first company to successfully make a good car that was also an EV. Even if you ignore their weird cult fans cars went from being shit hybrids like the prius to full EVs with a global network of charging stations.

Space-X has completely changed what's possible with rocketry and continue to push the boundary. Even if they achieve nothing technologically they're bringing 40 years of development progress into the industry which has completely stagnated.

Whats horrible about them? They are spacious inside for a car so small, they are easy to drive and reliable. And they have the fit and finish and quality control that you would expect from a leading auto manufacturer. I dont see anything horrible about them.

a mars colony is decades into the future to even get started, it's just pure speculation to say anything about it
travel between different cities/states could be done in self-contained vessels with oxygen or maybe scuba diver style personal oxygen tanks but the inside of cities would probably have a full atmosphere and people would have simpler vessels like on earth for cost reasons
