How are spillages and fatal accidents dealt with in your country's roads?

No.1694765 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
There's something I've been wanting to ask non-UK drivers for some time.

Whenever there's an accident that results in a fuel or oil spillage in the UK they close the entire fucking road and do an emergency resurfacing. Even if it only affects one lane, all lanes are closed while they carry these works. So when you hear on the radio a "spillage" took place you can bet on that stretch of motorway being closed for a good 12 hours at the very least.

This also happens whenever there's a fatal crash. It becomes a crime scene and the forensic investigators need to come in and collect evidence for hours on end. Again, they could close one or two lanes to do that but nope they close the whole thing.

I know the UK government is overzealous to the point of being retarded. "Safety first" is taken to an extreme here, so I was wondering if this is a particularly British retardation or if these types of accidents are equally disruptive in other countries.
