Looking to get some kind of electric motor for my Santa Cruz Heckler MTB.
I have read up a bit and found this one and it seems to be the most powerful, I will be doing climbs of 2k ft to 4k ft so I need some sort of motor to make these climbs possible. Should I go this route? How do these work? Are you able to charge them by pedaling, or is it dead after use?

you can't charge it by pedalling, in fact if you are going to do big descents you might actually want a hub motor so you can make use of regen braking
in some countroes you'll get assraped if you have a throttle and no speed governor but elsewhere- get a throttle, "pedal assist" sucks

There are a lot of ATV trails that make incredible mountain biking but are legit too steep and rocky to get up without a motor. That said, I would be concerned about taking a bafang conversion down a trail like that... you don't have enough bash clearance for a rock garden capable of killing a trials rider.
