My god I love delivering food on my bicycle. Every job I get is like a little mission. Feel like I'm in vice city or something, all while I'm getting super fit. Sure I'm 30 years old, and can't do it for much longer, sure I have no gf and sure a lot of people would consider me a loser but my god, I am happy.

Aye. Classic parcel/letter bike messenger here. Currently do foods from time to time as well. Nowadays only part time but job spoilt me so much that I can no longer enjoy a ride from a to b without any reason or purpose like delivering something. Its kinda based but sucks at the same time.

Something I realized about the stigma of delivery work is that it'll never hold the same prestige as other jobs despite it being an honest and hard form of work. There's a reason society refers to us as delivery "boys" and not delivery "men." Cowboys had the same stigma back during their day, any job with "boy" instead of "man" is society's way of demeaning those positions. As a delivery boy, you don't want to be a delivery boy, but just like cowboys, everyone fantasizes being a hooligan that rides for a living.

nah, I go around working for a couple of months to years then kick back and coast when I get bored, never did the same job twice, fuck careers
also, at least here, food delivery gets you far beyond minimum wage, people I know are pulling entry level coding numbers just riding bikes since the ‘rona hit

My favorite part of doing bike delivery was the freedom, just goals and total freedom on what i did to my bike to make it work.

id ride my surly lht like i rented it and i'd roll it in anywhere with pride and confidence. Making 30 an hour didn't fucking hurt either
