Every single major city in the country has light rail and/or bus lines, and Amtrak connects every single major city in the country via publicly-funded rail systems. And further, in every city that Amtrak stops in, their is at least one station within walking distance of that city’s public transit system. You can hop on a subway in NYC, get whisked to the outskirts of Jersey, and then hop on an Amtrak that will take you as far as Seattle and Tampa. And then tour that city without ever needing to rent a car. “American infrastructure was manipulated by the auto industry to force people to buy cars” is the pinnacle or cope.
