It's like playing the lottery, you just have to get used to it. I suspect they log-in and randomly delete a few posts/threads that might meet x criteria to show they're 'active' and the board is being moderated.

OP here, I concluded that it probably is too narrow after ordering a nice pair of 1.6 inch Schwalbe Hurricanes. I'll keep them in my drawer for the next summer when the roads are dryer or for when I want to commute on this bike.

Currently thinking of a combination of Schwalbe Smart Sam 2.25 inch at the front and Continental Race King 2.2 inch at the rear.

Is there ANY difference between, say, 2.2 inch wide tire and a 2.0 inch tire with the same thread? The info on the internet seems to be scarce on this subject.

There is, the volume of air it holds and thus the pressure required to keep the rim off the ground.
Also, tread doing anything is a point of contention with afaik zero studies concluding anything one way or the other. I think it’s agreed that tread makes a difference on loose surfaces, but nobody can prove tread design does jack shit
