For a lot of roadies, having wide range and tight spacing for cadence reasons is the goal. Currently the Campy 11-32 cassette is 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-22-25-28-32, and I can see them adding 18 in. Same goes for the 11-29. Or they could make their 11-34 cassette have smaller jumps up top, from 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-22-25-29-34 to 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-22-25-28-31-34
