I’ve done it only 3 times. It’s dangerous and stupid but sort of fun. If you need to get to a specific place it require superhuman effort and knowledge but just to go in any direction it’s easy.

You can't really stop trainhoppers from doing so, so I think a better idea would be to put a very baisic passenger wagon on the end of every freight train to safely and legally accomodate them. You don't have to look for stowaways anymore, just check the hobo wagon and ask for documents when necessary. It's easier for everyone.

Most train riders love trains from what I can tell. At the end of the day, I think that's what's important. Scale model guys, foamers, train hobos, railroad workers they all like trains.

Nobody should give a shit about them because they know that what they are doing is dangerous and it's also a victimless crime. If you call the police on a rider you are just a huge bootlicker desu.

idk about america but here in europe you have to be a really good sneaker or else you'll be easily spotted and detained
also, freight trains get halted for at least half an hour at every second or third station or so so it's not an effective method of travelling
also also the overhead cable doesn't ask questions

You can easily keep out the train hoppers by lining the exterior of the train with metal spikes. They even started doing this where I live recently

I dont really mind most of the hobos. They usually know which cars are safe to ride on (covered hoppers that have platforms, boxcars). Then there are the ones that think its a good idea to sit on the couplers or that go and fuck with shit on the cars like the brakes and the angle cocks. Theyre the ones i rip off the cars, beat, and roll them in the weeds
