a CX fork is usually 400mm
you could maybe do a 26" front end suspension fork on an old 700c hybrid frame and get away with it. Would probably be high trail which is the hot new meme now. would suck for climbing but bomb down hills

problem is every old junker bike is overpriced now so it's too expensive to be worth it

I have an old marzocchi bomber with lock-down rather than lockout that I really like.

i've got an old manitou efc fork on my 90s trek 7000 that i bought when i was 15. from the factory the bike came with a rock shox quadra 21r (the yellow one) i think, but to save some money i bought the unsuspended one and then saved up for a fork when i could afford it. it's pretty clapped out, but i just love the look of it. i think i could get new elastomers and stuff to rebuild it, but it's now my city fixed gear runabout so it hardly matters

Why did they remove that plastic stanchions protection cover in modern forks? Seems like something that would increase the lifespan of a fork
