Roadies, looking for help on a training plan. Lifelong athlete getting into riding, been hitting it about 2 days a week for a couple months and can go for 30-40 miles averaging 15-17 but I want to be competitive enough for group rides and road races. I know from running the best way to be more aerobically efficient is to train tempo intervals, pushing from a 2 recovery zone to a high exertion 3 zone every couple of minutes, but I’m still struggling with hills and becoming a more powerful rider with stronger sprints and climbs. Looking for people’s routines or tips on forming a more effective routine than just LSD rides. Also looking at a garmin forerunner 745, any reviews on that would be cool too because it’s a big purchase and don’t know if it’s necessary.
