>>1708696I’ll give you the story of the last pros closet bike I saw in my shop, which should be taken with the grain of salt that there are probably plenty of bikes that haven’t come into the shop because they’re fine
>guy comes in with niner gravel bike from pros closet>can’t get into 3 of his rear gears>stops are broken, impossible to adjust to the point where he’ll shift into those gears>can’t source the part, find it on back country for like $400 because he doesn’t want to wait>gets his bike back after we order and install the part >week later he comes back with the bike>road it twice and the bottom bracket was already creaking >did a more thorough look around the bike, brake pads are like 75-80% until totally shot>guy left town for the season but still hasn’t gotten it totally fixed >at least the frame wasn’t crackedExpensive bikes are already finicky as is, personally I wouldn’t open myself up to rolling the dice on if a $2-3k group set is in perfect working order, not to mention you’re going to have no knowledge of its past service history or how often it’s been ridden like you would through a private sale. IMO it’s probably just a gimmick picking up on the bike boom.
