If you have a car and let's face it, for years the whole infrastructure and focus on big shopping malls and supermarkets, instead of small local stores made the car pretty much essential. They shill public transport, but then make it all shit, they shill local shopping, but then make laws that kill it and favor supermarkets, so everyone has to get a car and then they say car bad, we ain't gonna give you parking space to discourage you from owning a car, but at the same time stick to a law that allows parking on the streets and sidewalks.
Hate cagies all you want, but the politicians made them and made them make your life less comfortable. It's a sham all along, they pretend to shill bikes and public transport, then make the infrastructure utter shit, so that the car is the best means of transportation and pit cagies against cyclist as a test to see where the majority votes lie. The pic you posted wouldn't exist if the people who planned the town, would consider parking spots for cars and bike lanes, and also an economy where you wouldn't need a car to do shopping and get kids safely to school.
Here's a story:
>be 20 years ago>need to do shopping>everything I need is withing less than a mile away>hardware stuff, home renovation stuff>it's a 10 minute walk away>supermarkets exist but it's a once in two weeks thing with the family>be 2021>want to buy bathroom sing, since the old one has a crack>no local stores>thing is cumbersome so not really something you can carry or transport on a bike>need to call a friend with a car>we drive to 3 supermarkets before we can find the right part>now I'm looking for a plumber willing to drive more than 10km for a job>there's no local one>10 years ago I needed only to walk 2 km to a shop that also had mounting service at no extra costs>tax laws killed it
