So with the first trainsets being delivered now to Miami for the Miami-Orlando route, Brightline is shifting its focus to the LA-Vegas route.
Brightline is funded by a big hedgefund so they have the money to build.

That's the better route in principle. Tunnel through Cajon pass and bring it through the Inland Empire to LA Union. Upgrade Metrolink route in the process and even extend its service to Victorville. This would serve more people directly and better connect to theoretical HSR going out to Phoneix via the Inland Empire and Palm Springs. Plus it'd connect into CAHSR phase 2 from LA to SD. The part from Victorville to Palmdale should be built later to serve HSR trains between Vegas and the northern part of California.

It is the most populated city in California, so a lot of people would be going FROM California and back home, and it’s a huge tourist attraction with the tar pits, Disneyland, Legoland California, and Hollywood along with a good amount of Western Gold Rush infrastructure leftover. Yes, mostly it’s American consumerism, but Vegas is that times 100. California does have a lot of shit parts, but not as bad as Columbia or Brazil.

Vegas doesn't even really market itself as a gambling oasis anymore. They've added in so many other forms of entertainment (big name musicians, Broadway-tier plays, magicians, combat sport capitol of the US, etc) that they don't even need to make money on slots any more. In fact, I would be surprised if they even program their slot machines to make money off their tourists, simply because of the number of other insane tourist traps they have on offer.

Rancho Cucamonga is like 40 miles from downtown LA and is on their existing metro rail line. The closer you get to the center of a dense metro area the more exponentially expensive the project becomes.

I personally think Vegas is a lost cause shithole and that it’s retarded waste of money in that regard, but i can’t fault them for stopping the line (for now) at RC.

There is a lot of length along that existing line where there is room to add tracks and build tunnel portals if you wanted to straighten the line at key points. That's much cheaper to actually construct than going through the hassle of acquiring tons of acreage you don't already have the right to.

It will not terminate at Disneyland.
It terminates at Rancho Cucamonga.

I it looked up, and the fastest route to get to Rancho Cucamonga from Santa Ana will take around 3 hours using PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
There is no direct route from Santa Ana to Rancho Cucamonga.

You have to take a train in the opposite direction(towards Los Angeles) to Downtown LA, and then take the train to Rancho Cucamonga.

Yep. This new Vegas train will be perfect for LA residents because they can board at Union Station and ride Metrolink straight out to RC. It's only about an hour and 15 minute trip. For OC residents it's not too bad though. People down there could take Metrolink to San Bernardino and then maybe have an express bus from there to RC. Long term it would be better if Metrolink could somehow run trains from that big ARTIC station directly to RC. Should be doable with enough funding.
