Got a new bike finally and spent a decent amount of money (by my poorfag country's standards). Cagies in my social circle also made fun of it but now riding is actually something to look forward to rather than a chore. Don't mind them.

Does your fork have a lockout? If so then that bike should be ok on the road if you put some slick tires on it. Could be a fun bike to take camping if you have national forests nearby

Locked out suspension fork != solid fork

The area moments of inertia for a hollow tube are completely different to a solid flat fork. I.e. the solid fork will flex a lot more and provide some degree of suspension over a locked out suspension one.

But you can ride on the road with a suspension fork no problem. Sure it eats a bit of your power budget but so do a million other things.

fork lockouts are weird, on suspended forks, I prefer it always unlocked even on pavement. I don't know how to describe it but yeah, it has a different feel from a rigid. Modern suspension forks don't even sap as much energy as the old forks back in the day.

They are right. You payed 2k for a couple of pipes and 2 flimsy wheels. That shit is not even full squish/ You could have bought 2 full motorcycles for that amount.
