Right? I had a catastrophic walking accident the other day and literally all the groceries in my hands wound up on the sidewalk. It caused a full 2 minutes of delays while I picked it up and upwards of 10 dollars in long term damages. I don't get that either, everyone who has a driver's license or rode a bicycle should be doing this automatically even while being on foot (right side countries).
I wonder if they are the same fucks who stand still on the left side of the escalator, just completely obvlious of other people in existence. I used to think they did this on purpose to 'troll' people but it turns out 1/4th of the population is truly mentally capped and unable to process their impact on the movement of others.

I feel like this is what naturally happens in the majority of cases. My monkey brain automatically moves me right when face to face with someone. They do the same. Even for cars, we only seperate based on speed on highways, i.e. roads that are meant to transport people from A to B over a great distance with as few intersections or other interruptions as possible. Dividing lanes in this manner already becomes impractical on smaller roads, let alone streets, because those aren't merely means to get from A to B but they have many more destinations along the way. Do I really have to explain why seperating foot traffic into lanes makes no sense, unless it's some kind of weird ass sidewalk that's essentially the walking equivalent of a highway?

It doesn't matter how many lanes you use, the fact remains that sidewalks are not uninterrupted stretches between two destinations with the space in between having the sole purpose of facilitating travel (like a highway). Sidewalks contain many destinations along the way: there are houses, places to get pizza, drink coffee, buy shoes or get Jeff Goldblum's face tattood on your tits. It's not a place where you can expect to walk fast without being interrupted, and you can't fix that by implementing retarded pedestrian traffic rules.

And don't bring up the fact that we seperate lanes on residential or urban streets made for cars despite all the destinations along the way. We do that because cars are much less agile and they consist of several tons of steel that can turn a human body into a puddle, whereas people can just walk around eachother, and even if they do bump into eachother, nothing happens. So stop pretending you're a car and just walk around people.

Unlike OP, I realize that although I may think very logically and come up with the most safe and efficient solutions to everyday problems, the rest of the world will not accomodate my autism, and would prefer to just do things haphazardly without much thought. That means treating every pedestrian, cyclist, scooter user and driver as if they are a potential threat not watching where they are going (or thinking they own the road/sidewalk) and navigating cautiously past them at a comfortable distance.

I also won't hesitate to walk in the street to avoid having to smell homeless people walking towards me, and body slam into groups of normies walking alongside each other. Normally I just pause, but sometimes if there is a volley of human obstacles approaching in front of me as I'm walking over on the right side (American) and plenty of time for them to divert their course, I just wait until last minute for them to yield, and if they don't just brace for impact and keep walking
