Some of the railroads actually take enough pride in their history to maintain them. NS and BNSF both have gorgeous stream liners that I cannot remember the numbers of. UP has a Challenger and Big Boy.

The only Class 1 or 2 that rosters steam equipment is UP, and it's just the Big Boy and 844 now because they retired the Challenger...NS does steam specials once in a while but the locomotives are museum/trust owned. No one else seems to touch steam, although some museum wants to run a restored ATSF locomotive over the BNSF in the southwest
