>long answerIn order to have money you need a job, and in order to get a job you need a house with an address where you can bathe, cook food, protect your possessions from theft, and sleep. Living innawoods successfully still requires many costly resources, including but not limited to: warm clothing, a camp knife or hatchet, a backpack, rope, matches, and lumber and construction equipment if you want to build a cabin. Even then, there's no guarantee of electricity or running water, so you'll need to live near a constant source of fresh water like a river or pond. Unfortunately, regular people with regular houses tend to live in hospitable places with fresh water, and they don't like bums shitting in their lake. This leaves places with fresh water that are far away from civilization, like a tundra or desert. These places are not only expensive to travel to, but are very harsh environments to have a normal life in.
What ends up happening to most homeless people is that they are forced to live in their car or van. If they can't afford to keep their car anymore, they end up on the streets, where they will get more and more depressed, poor, and dirty.
