Costs less than a drink at starbucks because it's even more useless than a drink at starbucks. Those baskets are just for decoration, you're not actually supposed to use it. If they were meant for holding stuff they'd be flat and they would have multiple bungee cords not the tiny thing that crushes everything.

I think I prefer my 4 mile ride along the lake to the grocery store on a bike which I assembled myself and has good racks and panniers which I can easily get two weeks worth of food into if I desire. Don't know why anyone would want to live in the city.

I found a stiff canvas bag that fits in that basket and is perfect for carrying beer/olive-oil/wine home from Trader Joes. I wish more of the Citibikes had pizza box size carriers.

It's hella-fun picking up a Citibike from 116th street, riding in Riverside Park to the 90s, then cutting over to Trader Joes on Columbia Ave. Of course I could walk too, but since I have the Citibike key fob with me, I use it a lot more than I plan.

They're a BSO (Bike Shaped Object). I think of them like the pedal powered Duck boats at an amusement park. The e-motor equipped ones are more fun, if you can find one and it has a charge left on it. It's much easier finding a "nice" citibike in the fringe neighborhoods than Midtown.
