>>1744476Since I have ADHD (not a bad case of it, but still it's there) and since I race bikes for the last 13 years, sitting still for very long periods of time does take a toll on me, that's for sure. I don't think I'd do it again for that reason. But it was still better than taking a plane right now, and as previously stated there were positive aspects to it.
Not being able to shower wasn't as bad as you think because you're not moving around all that much, and when you do you're not doing it so vigorously that you're getting sweaty. But when I got in the door at home and got everything put away, the shower was definitely more than welcome. And no, I don't believe that even the private cabin/sleeper car people get a shower, there's just not enough water on board for that. I considered paying for a motel room at Los Angeles, since I'd have 3.5 hours to kill, just so I could shower and maybe get a short nap, but there wasn't anything close by enough that was affordable.
I'd definitely take the train for various reasons, like if I needed/wanted to go to SoCal, and it'd be only a few hours total each way. But I don't think I'll be going 1500 miles on trains again, at least not anytime in the forseeable future.
