>>1739720I need to take a 450 KM trip And I'm trying to decide between taking my car, and taking Via Rail.
It costs $320 (2 people) to go by train, the pros would be that I wouldn't have to worry about parking, and I wouldn't put wear and tear on my new car
On the other hand, my car gets 600 KM to a full tank and and the trip would probably only cost me like $90 in gas. I'd also be able to drive instead of using public transit transit at my destination, and the trip by car would take 4 hours and 30 minutes instead of 6 hours by train.
What's the right choice? The only thing pulling me towards using Via is the fact that I don't want to put the miles on my car, If I had an older car I wouldn't even think about taking the train.
Is on the side note, why the hell is possible is passenger rail so expensive?? I know we aren't as dense as Europe but the rails are already taxpayer subsidized.
