Many of those stops outside specific routes would have trouble competing with budget airlines or cheap flights
>b-b-b-b-ut muh TSA wait times and boogiemanIt's meaningless as anyone who travels for work has pre-check and just walks through, the only people who complain about TSA are those infrequent travelers.
Most those routes have a snowballs chance in hell to exist, that seattle trip is hilariously bad as winter would completely fuck it's potential speed, same with summer storms. Boring through the rockies to maintain high speeds would be enough to bankrupt it, and this isn't even starting about the amount of communities that would be up in arms about the environment/historical building being torn down.
The final nail in the coffin that makes this a pipe dream is simply no one who would do this will use buses when they get to the city and would be renting a car. This means you not only need to take longer to get from A->B you need to also spend more to get down town or chance it up to the bus systems which go from okayish to shit across the USA.
Unlike EU/Asia, most american companies don't care about doing each business transaction in person when compared to teleconference's. That fact alone simply kills where the main source of income to keep trains running would be missing.
