Why do boomer conservatives love buses so much? Trains can at least be pleasant to ride and improve many people's quality of life if properly implemented. Admitting that the vast majority of people who can't afford cars in America are niggers and tweakers who don't deserve a single taxpayer dollar taken from productive citizens would also be a totally reasonable position. Buses are the worst of both worlds - spending taxpayer money on something that good people overwhelmingly, and rightly, refuse to ride. Is it some strategy to kill public transit gradually?

American "conservatives" believe that making private businesses profitable is always the most important thing - if transportation infrastructure is poor, medical care inefficient, public lands ruined, or military spending wasteful, they're not bothered by those problems when the status quo is great for business. Above all, well-functioning publicly owned services make them seethe, because a person who can ride a subway regularly isn't likely to also be paying out money to the car dealer, gas station, and car insurance companies like a good consoomer should.

Yes but there business is doing good right now. They don't want to upset the system that is keeping them at the top. This is why you see oil companies vehemently fighting to slow the adoption of renewables whilst also investing a shit ton of cash into the tech so that by the time regulation comes around they'll be sure to be on top and get all those tasty government contracts.

Reading this I'm having a bit of a stroke.
How exactly are Buses supposed to be more efficient by this logic, taking into account the major pain in the rear it would be just to convert the tunnels to roads, slower operating speed and immediate blocking of tunnels when a single bus fails?
