>>1746350Because this style of coach, where each cabin is accessed only by a single exterior door, isn't accessible by the handicapped, and it's impossible to safely evacuate in case of an accident or derailment. It's also incredibly inefficient to board, as people would have to walk the entire length of the consist, peering into windows to find somewhere to sit. Lastly, if there's a fire or something, you won't know about it until the flames are licking at your ankles.
Then there's the lack of creature comforts; of course there's no washroom or 'bar car' onboard, and they're impossible to clean in revenue service.
Weep for what is gone, perhaps, but they're obsolete with good reason.
