>>1746835The worst part of flying is the security.
Wear trainers. they will be easier to take off if you're asked to. Steel toecaps will set off metal detectors, so if you're taking safety boots, pack them in your checked bags.
Avoid large metal belt buckles. Best to just not wear a belt if you can.
Don't buy any drinks until AFTER you have passed through security. They will confiscate any bottles or cans.
Have all your travel documents to hand. I find it easy to put passport, tickets, hotel booking and any other such documents in a plastic wallet. Wear combat trousers with a big pocket that you can stuff this into.
Different airports have different policies when it comes to shoes on or off, or laptops in or out of your bag going through the scanners. If there's a TSA (or equivalent) person supervising the queue, ask them what their policy is BEFORE you get to the front of the queue to save time.
Flying TO Europe is a piece of piss.
If you have connecting flights, double check with the check-in staff if your bags are going all the way to their destination, or if you will have to re-check them at any point. This can be a big problem when changing aircraft in the USA.
USCBP are staffed by stroppy children who have zero interest in letting you into their country. Upon landing in the United States, ask a member of staff to help fill in the US entry forms before joining the queue.
On the actual flight, sit back and enjoy the in-flight movie. This is the best part.
