Being restricted to taking mass transit is a nightmare. Stuck to THEIR schedule. Not being able to buy groceries, or anything else for that matter, that you hump around, or have to pay for a taxi. Countries that are burdened with taxes, where their people can't afford to buy/own/register/insure a car, also rely on mass transit. Countries where their citizens can't afford to own a house because it's prohibitively expensive, and they have to live in a tiny hovel or an even smaller apartment, rely on mass transit.
