>>1748420Is it $120 or €120? They're different currencies, you know. And it's possible to hit that price point, but not with Advent 1x10 unless you have distributor pricing. As the original person you responded to indicated, a crankset and chain isn't part of the Advent group. And now that I look back at his post, he said 1x9. So, referring to Universal Cycles again:
RD: $43.99
Cassette: $34.99
Shifter: $22.99
It looks like it's just over $100 for a 1x9 Advent group, as
>>1748173 claimed. If that's not good enough for you, you need to be more specific in what you want.
>>1748330It simplifies shifting, leaves more room in the cockpit for dropper and suspension remotes, nearly eliminiates chain drops, allows frame designers to more easily accomodate wider tires and different suspension linkage designs, and is slightly more aero. But it increases mechanical power loss at more extreme chain angles (which is why asymmetric frames are a thing...lets you get a nicer chainline), requires large cassettes with more sprockets, and makes chains wear faster. Still, I think that the front derailleur is going to go the way of the rim brake, only used on cheap bikes, elite pro road bikes for some stages, and retrogrouch builds.
