Why don't perpetually snowy places like northern Canada, Scandinavia, and Russia employ halftracks on their snow-clearing vehicles?
Pros
>Can withstand heavier loads - can carry more salt and push heavier buildup
>Increased traction area - can overpower any snow drifts and more resistant to sliding
>Perpetually snowy or muddy so no need to change out for summer wheels
Cons
>More complicated - easier for shit to go wrong
There's clearly a reason why treads are favored over wheels in (ant)arctic expeditions, so why aren't they employed in civilian areas with similar situations?
