I just imagine these sky lanes of flying vehicles over Nyc or Chicago, like Coruscant in the Star Wars prequels

that should be my line. you know air traffic has to be organized in lanes or at least checkpoints of some form or else the chaos becomes actively dangerous, specially when it's not just 100 random helicopters but 10000 flying cars in a city center with households immediately below them

probably not. its possible on paper but I don't think most ordinary people could be trusted with individual flying vehicles. It's just begging for a streak of 9/11 "lite" attacks. Also the FAA tends to limit the distance between flying vehicles so as to avoid mid air collisions (which are probably the most fatal kinds) and finally its unlikely that ordinary every day people would bother to spend thousands of dollars to get a flying liscence. i get that its cool but its bothersome and expensive, only to be used by those dedicated to flight due to their passion or career
