i spent a month in alburqurque and it was the scariest city to ever ride a bike in. it was a grid of 50mph blvds.

on my last day there, i found out that there was a grid of bicycle routes that cut through the middle of each suburban city block of houses. how come more cities dont have this? the cities took peoples properties to build freeways, couldnt they take portions of peoples yards and a few houses to make a freeway like grid of bikeways?
