i'm thinking about getting a gravel bike for two purposes - getting into bikepacking and easier commutes (i need to carry a laptop on my commutes, it's about 25 km one way, i hate wearing backpacks while riding).

as i've never had a gravel bike, i wonder how do these things actually fare on trails (with corrugation and whatnot) as compared to a hardtail bike?
