>>1751372I'd 1x that drivetrain, have you ever seen someone buy a hybrid and use the FD? of course not. it's just more shit to maintain, more weight, and more expense. but people who buy babby's first bike count the number of gear combinations as if they're actually going to be jumping between rings all the time even though most of them barely even understand why they'd ever want to shift any gears at all
I'd put somewhat fatter tires with less tread, but then again everyone who buys babby's first bike thinks they need monster truck tread, so they have to have that otherwise it won't sell
I'd put lights on it by default, but that costs money, and idiots think reflectors are good enough, so yeah, not going to see that on this kind of bike any time soon, not in USA USA #1 muh thin blue line
probably a setback seatpost for more compliance while we're at it, and desu a brooks style saddle would be nice, that's the kind of rider who actually needs those things. then again those cost money
lastly one of those adjustable stems would be nice because no one is ever going to swap that stem, but having adjustability staring you in the face all the time might motivate you to look for the most comfortable setup without selling the whole bike, which is often the first move that casuals do. then again less profit for trek that way if someone keeps their bike
