I find the chill rides in populated areas to be the ones with the highest risk of crashing. Walkies will get in the way and people on boomer cruisers will ride right into you

The average speed of a worker honeybee is 15 mph. Which coincidentally is my average speed when I'm on my bicycle doing a groceries or beer run.

So lets say both me and the worker bee are approaching from opposite directions the combined velocities equal 30mph which can leave a good sized red welt on the forehead or facial area in general. The bee may or may not survive the impact.

On a motorcycle its a whole different story. Regardless of the bees direction of travel, or vector if you will, the impact speed can easily exceed 65mph. Thats gotta sting no matter where it hits you. :)

The thing that gets lost in these debates is the source of danger is always the vehicle. Rather than continually trying to put a band-aid (helmet) on the symptoms, lets address the real issue and proceed with infrastructure changes that make the roads truly safe.

Comparable risk activities for bikes would be: BMX, alleycat shit, high-difficulty mountain biking.

In a lot of cases, casual biking is not much more dangerous than walking down the street. You wouldn't wear a helmet when walking down the street, would you?
