They often have a garbage truck with them to use it as a hydraulic compactor.
They could be much more flexible, both time-wise and place-wise (Witikon, Affoltern, city centre, generally any place without spare tracks) by just using 2~3 garbage trucks that can be parked in any smaller public square.
In fact that's what they do when the 1922 tram is in revision or being used as a snow plough.
Not criticizing the successful "Cargo-Tram" concept, just pointing out that you could easily do it without a tram.
