Yes. I have bald spots on the outer sides of my thighs from friction with pants, and my lower calf is mostly bald up to where the socks usually get. I am 100% sure its from friction because I also have a lot of ingrown hairs in those places (a result of hairs being plucked).
Not sure how a helmet would do that however.

Definitely. I've got hair loss on the outside of my legs thats in stark contrast to the inside. Also used to be a pizza guy and the dominos hat made the hair at my temples recede, while I retained a full head of hair otherwise.
