Canada and the USA are stupid relaxed on DUI, Distracted driving and speeding. I've known people who have pulled over for doing twice the limit and suspended license for 6 months.
Our rules of the road aren't taught, like at all. Court cases are important to understand in every day driving, the rules of the road and rights of road users (as a pedestrian you can use a full lane... Think of walking in rural snowed in roads.) is not taught, driving habits aren't taught other then by a parent which doesn't work.. Its honestly so bad.
Germany has autobahns because the rules of the road are taught, eye tests are required, first aid is required, it costs a good amount at 1400 pounds but I mean... Germany is a country with strict road rules and enforces it.
We have a 20 multiple choice question test, 1 year of "driving with a full license holder" which requires no proof outside of your own ability. 1 single hour long test... We encourage bad drivers by saying "it would burden his life if he lost his license" before gently slapping his wallet and rarely any AA or rehab requirements to get the license back.
Why we don't just teach drivers ed in school is beyond me. 1 year long course to teach you, how to properly hook up a trailer, how to ensure you aren't overloading your vehicle, the rules of the road, and just endless things we could add onto this but make it part of schooling. People don't know how to drive their car, they don't understand 0C = ice is possible...
Pass the class with the requirement of a B+ in car handling and knowledge you get your L.
To get your N is 30 hours of driving time with a instructor, written exam on the rules of the road, some court cases you are informed before about to study about and lastly a obstacle course to be driven at 25, 50 and 75km/h at. Hit any cones repeat the test for the obstacle course. 2 chances.
holy fuck this captcha sucks
