In Helena, Main Street area is great. You have a great park, a festival area, a baseball stadium, your banks, local shops, a farmers market, and a local grocer.
But most people live on the opposite side of the highway (actual road, the stepdad goes around town and doesn’t nterfere with the suburbs or main town), so would have to drive there. And if your driving, you might as well go to Costco instead of walk around town.
Helena is old, so it’s downtown still thrives, but they are a dying town, even as the state capitol. I mean dying as young people don’t want to live there, you want to live somewhere with actual jobs if you’re driving to work anyway, and old people are dying.
The also built the college on the opposite side of the highway from main town, and watching Carrol football is one of the things to do in town!
