You can pay with cash, or with a reloadable card. You can use credit or debit too, if you wish.
It's generally on time, though I've had it (rarely) break down on me. The seats are reasonably comfortable, and the windows are nice to look out of. I've never been bothered by other passengers.
If you want to go to Fort Lauderdale, you'll take BCT (bus) route 22 east from the station to get into downtown. Or, you can walk.
Tri-Rail is better than Brightline, for sure.
