but yeah I'm assuming those points are exaggerated for the sake of a thread.

e.g you won't catch me with a helmet when I ride around town bunny hopping shit on my sick ass 90s diamondback but I do wear one when I'm riding for sports. I bail regularity and the last time I had a particularly bad crash I had to spend two nights in the hospital because of how hard I hit my head.

riding like this and not wearing a helmet would be just stupid.

Friction is superior because you don't need to match shifter to derailleurs, plus getting indexing right is annoying and also for weak consumer drones

if your bike is a piece of shit but the saddle and bars are in the right spot it's awesome and the best bike ever

if you strap a knife to your 90s hybrid's fork is the best bike ever

guns should be carried on all bike rides because it's safe to fall with a gun in your pocket

helmets don't work and if you wear one you're an idiot. people in cars should wear helmets

surly bikes suck unless they're old then they're cool

carbon seatposts will break and impale your butthole, I've seen it happen on ten different group rides

If you buy a bike which doesn't have trashed chainrings and wheels, for under $200, it is cost effective.

Simple as. You can buy all that stuff online. You're right people do get hung up on 'building' and needlessly modifying but rarely are most core parts actually worn out or unsuitable on a good old project. The reason to 'build' a custom bike is if you have a big parts bin in which case the parts are effectively free.
